It’s hard to say what the things are that influence my work. I, like most artists, always have my eyes open, looking and in some way, influenced by everything; the line that is created by the vein of a leaf, the way a young plant pushes up through the compacted dirt, or something as simple as the shadow that is created by a spoon sitting on a table.

When I look at other artist’s work, I’m looking for a spark of recognition, or seeing something in that artist’s work that achieves the thing that I have failed at in my own work. On that note, the artist’s work that I have been looking at tend to work in ceramics, wood or stone. Of those I would list are ceramicists Sergei Isupov, John Woodward, Adrian Arleo, wood carvers John Buck, Ron Isaacs, and memorial stone carver Michael Updike. – Robin Grebe
